Liquid sinuous extravagance.
With a wide predatory stance
that is streamlined for dynamic speed the Hammerhead is instantly a visually
striking piece, pushing the boundaries, reaching and searching of how a new
chair form can exist.
An evolution of the original carved oak wood Hammerhead chair design, the Hammerhead RVS resounds in a class of its own.
A sculptural cast chair created in stainless steel. This chair was produced using the lost wax process of investment casting. Based initially on the original carved oak wood Hammerhead chair. This metal chair version required the making of a whole new sculptural template chair - carved from wood. This was then used by the foundry specifically to make moulds of the individual component sections. The meticulously carved template becoming a natural evolution of the previous Hammerhead chair design, allowing variations to styling within the ergonomic sculptural work to be cast in metal that otherwise would not have been possible in wood. Once the component parts were cast, they were then exactingly assembled into the final form before the final mirror polishing process.
After mould making by the foundry of the component parts for the metal casting, the original template sections where then re-assembled and spray finished to form the exact desired spatial presence of the final work. Used then by the foundry as the pattern for assembly of the stainless steel components into the final chair. The creation of this piece requiring the expertise and skills of numerous artisan craftspeople in order to achieve the highest level of finish possible.
