Sculptural works and installations for private domestic settings, parks and gardens, public and limited access public spaces. Most of these works are carved in wood - oak being the predominant choice for exterior pieces with its natural weathering abilities.
Recent sculptural commissions have included a series of wall mounted pieces carved in walnut throughout the central corridor of a new school build - Tree Music. The walnut wood used in these works originated from a standing tree that had to be felled to make way for the new school building.
A 3.2m high bleached oak i drop! form for a private city garden in Luxembourg presented quite a challenge in the making due to the sheer vertical mass sitting on its point of balance. This is of course how the name of this work was derived. ‘Look out - I am going to drop/fall!’ Carried through with the ‘i’ inside and a double interpretation of drop in the fluid styling in the shape.(You can discover more on the creation of this work by checking through the archives in the chaircreative blog)
The mildly unpronounceable work C^ (carbon 6) A structure that locks the dark heart of the matter at head height - vaguely reminiscent of a molecular structure model, it certainly commands a dynamic presence. How big is the smallest thing?
